Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION?
The calendar is typically booked 4-6 weeks in advance (sometimes more as we approach to holiday season). Schedule your session as soon as you are ready.

WHAT ABOUT NEWBORN SESSIONS?
Newborn sessions are always conducted when baby is less than 2 weeks of age (barring any unforeseen circumstances). It is imperative that you schedule your newborn portrait session before baby arrives to ensure availability on our calendar. They ideal time to book your newborn session is during your 7th month of pregnancy. Maternity sessions are also available in conjunction with a newborn session and are conducted around the 34-36 week mark.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?
I am available for sessions Monday through Friday. Sessions begin between 9 and 11 AM depending on type of session scheduled and last anywhere from 1 hour to up to 4 hours for newborns. The studio itself is available for phone calls until 4PM.  Weekends are for my family. Saturday sessions are available on a limited basis. Please inquire if you have the need for a Saturday session (additional fees may incur).

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
The studio is located in a designated loft within my personal residence in the World Golf Village area. Exact address will be given at the time of scheduling. You can view the studio here.

CAN I SCHEDULE A MATERNITY SESSION ONLY?
Maternity sessions are available in conjunction with a newborn session. A full session is available as well as a digital mini session that is exclusive to our pregnant clients that have retained a newborn session.

CAN WE GO ON LOCATION?
YES of COURSE!!  There are a variety of “go to” places that are my absolute favorites to photograph – downtown Saint Augustine is my #1. Please let me know if you would like to do your session on location. Additional travel fees may incur depending on location.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS SICK?
If your child (or yourself) become ill please reschedule!!  Things happen and illnesses pop up suddenly and I understand that (I have kids too). Session fees are not refundable but are transferable to another date/time within 30 days of your original date should an illess pop up. I will extend the same courtesy of not sharing germs with you should I or a family member become ill.

HOW DO I SEE AND ORDER MY PORTRAITS?
Upon booking your portrait session we will also schedule an ordering session (if newborn we will schedule AT your portrait session).  It is during this time where we will view your images, narrow down your favorites, talk about your home, your ideas, your wall space, etc to have help you build a package that fits your personal needs. 24 hours prior to your scheduled ordering session your images will be available in an online slideshow presentation so that you can become acquainted with the images as well as share them with friends and family. Orders are completed during this personalized ordering session so please come prepared.

CAN I JUST ORDER ONLINE?
A personalized ordering session is scheduled so that we can work together to create the perfect package to best fit your needs, answer all questions at once and help you design art for your home. Online ordering is available for out of town family of our clients if applicable. If you know for sure you wish to order only the digital files from the session from our a la carte menu and have no desire to order prints you may prepay for your digital files at your session and your files will be ready for download approx. 1 week from your session.

DO YOU SELL A DISK OF ALL FILES?
YES.  Do we like it?  Not really. Our “You build it” Collection allows for the purchase of your entire gallery of images in addition to an art piece. You may also order the full gallery from our a la carte menu as well if you prefer. A discount is given when ordering as a part of your Collection. Why don’t we like it?  Mainly because your images were professionally created and I strongly believe they should also be professionally printed for a variety of reasons but mainly so they LOOK professional in your home.  When your friends and family come to visit and see your prints on your walls I want them to look their absolute best and that cannot be done by without the help of a professional printer.

WHY DO YOUR DIGITAL FILES COST MORE THAN SOME OTHERS I SEE?
Nitz Photography has been in business since 2004 and believe it or not digital files are something that is new as far as a product goes. Just as many years ago it was unheard of for a photographer to sell the negatives from a session, in 2004 it was unheard of to sell digital files from a session. Times are changing for sure and digital files are all the rage right now. When searching for a photographer you will notice that there are MANY from which to choose and each varies greatly in price. There is so much more that goes into a portrait session that just what you see during your session.   To answer the question – it takes just as much time and effort to prep a file for a client as it does to prep that same image for print as just a 5×7 or 8×10. Remember you are paying for the time, effort, expertise, talent, hard work and love for each image created – not the paper or disk itself. Our digital files are priced just as our 8×10’s and 5×7’s e do offer a variety of ways to purchase your digital files for less when they are a part of our Signature Art Collections. In fact the more you purchase in prints the “cheaper” the files become.

HOW MUCH DO THE PRINTS AND PACKAGES COST?
Session fees do not include prints, products or digital files as those can all be ordered separately. You may order either a la carte or through our “you build it” Collection which allows great flexibility in ordering your art as well as digital files. Individual print/product and digital files are less when ordering within the Collection. Collection pricing begins at $570 (plus applicable sales taxes) and would include a 16×20 classic mounted wall portrait and 10 digital files.  A la carte is also available. A $400 minimum is required.
