Sessions

A portrait session at Nitz Photography is more than just taking a picture. It’s about an experience, about getting to know you and your child, it’s about capturing special moments.

PORTRAIT SESSIONS
Sessions take place at our home studio or at a location of your choice (limited availability, additional fees may incur) and typically last about an hour (newborns typically last 2-3 hours) with plenty of time for breaks when needed. We book 2-4 weeks in advance with Saturday sessions being the first to fill. Sessions are by appointment only and are available Monday through Saturday. Your non-refundable retainer is due upon scheduling your session to reserve your date and time. Please give at least 24 hours notice of a need to reschedule due to illness or injury.

NEWBORN SESSIONS
Newborn sessions take place at our home studio and are best photographed when baby is between 5 and 8 days of age. It’s best to call before baby arrives to tentatively book your newborn session. We do our best to squeeze in newborns that are less than 2 weeks of age if you did not have the chance to book before baby’s arrival. During your session, I will work around your baby’s schedule including breaks for feeding, changin & general fussiness. Newborn sessions may take up to three hours, so please schedule accordingly. CLOTHING
Simple and comfortable is always best.
Avoid large logos, wide stripes, or clothing that screams “look at me” as we want the focus of your portraits on faces rather than clothing.Gr
I always suggest jeans, layered clothing, simple dresses (don’t forget bloomers for little ones) and bare feet.
Newborns and young babies are best photographed in bare skin. For older children be sure to bring a couple different outfits to change into for variety.
For families and groups make sure everyone is dressed similarly - but not necessarily matching.

VIEWING & ORDERING
At the completion of your portrait session we will schedule a time for you to return to the studio for a personalized ordering session (approximately 7 to 10 days from your session date). It is during this time we will view your portraits in detail, assist you with image selection, create design ideas for wall portraits and home galleries, and help you select images for an album. While the children are welcomed to return to the studio for the ordering session, sometimes they can get a little restless as these sessions typically last an hour or more. It is recommended to find a friend to watch your little ones so they can have a little fun while you are here. All orders will be completed during this ordering session. Payment for order is due at your ordering session (payment plans are available) Please allow up to 3 weeks for your portraits to be packaged and ready for pick up.
