Our first model contestants hit the studio this week! Baby sister was along for the tow (we did her one year old portrait session a couple months ago) and she jumped in one shot for the fun of it! I’ve been photographing this family for what? 5 years now (give or take). The oldest’s dad was one of my very first clients back when I first opened the business. It’s been wonderful watching his grow and their family grow! I still need to decide which images to put in the voting gallery - but here is a sneak peek for mom

Webpage updates

Ok, I’ve mentioned it before and it’s taking a bit longer than I expected - but I am in the process of a whole new webpage! It’s looking awesome (if I do say so myself) and I’m really loving it with the huge images that it will have!!! I’m guessing we’ll go live the first week of February (so basically next week) … at that time we’ll start our scavenger hunt as well to help you get acquainted with the new site (and check for errors or bugs)
So, in my process of doing the new webpage I realized I need some testimonials for it. I have a few but would love to add a few more from some recent sessions. If you would like to share your portrait experience in a short paragraph either leave it here as a comment or email me directly with your thoughts. As a thank you I’ll be sure to gift you a 5×7 portrait on your next session. Due to overwhelming response last time I’m going to limit this to those that do not already have a testimonial on file and to the first 5 people that respond Better type fast!

more animals
So my external drive died. Hubby said the drive itself didn’t die but something died so I cannot use it anymore. My main drive is COMPLETELY full and won’t allow me to save another thing. So today off we went to Best Buy and similar stores to find new ones and bigger ones. So now I sit waiting for the drive to back up to the new external (and bigger) drive so that we can put the new HUGE drive inside the computer tomorrow and I wont have to yell at it anymore because it gets stuck because there is just TOO MUCH on the drive for it to run properly (my client from yesterday can account for this - listening to me get a little aggravated at the thing while we were trying to print some info)
Anyway - so above reflects my feelings. Can’t do anything really… so I sit and be bored…. what to do… what to do… if only I had someone sitting here I could blab too like the kitty above has….
BUT I have something fun and new and exciting to share with everyone as soon as I can get my system back into shape and get it uploaded. Our website is getting a MAJOR face lift! AND we have some fun new products to share with you (I’d take pictures but I have nowhere on the system to store them right now)! I cannot wait to share them! They are SO CUTE!

Such a GREAT time we had on our family vacation up in Colorado. It was great to visit with my bestest buddy and her family (golly her boys have gotten so big… they are bigger than me now ACK!) We got to play in the snow, do a little sledding, build a snowman and we even headed over to Steamboat Springs where the older boys got to do a little skiing. I have about 400 image to sift though and I promise I’ll share some when I have some time to view and edit a few. For now I need to get caught up on all my emails, phone calls and paperwork. It’s amazing how much can pile up in just a little over a week!
Out of the office

Just a reminder and a note that we will be out of the office starting tomorrow morning through the end of next week (14th - 23rd) to enjoy a little vacation time with some great friends out in Colorado. First time for the boys to be on a plane AND to see snow! It’s going to be so much fun! I promise I’ll share pictures when we get back.
If you are one of my people that have a session scheduled immediately upon my return - please do not worry if I don’t respond to emails… we are still good to go. Should you need me ASAP for any reason please call the studio line at 904-472-7060 and leave a message. I won’t be checking often but will be checking voice mail while I am gone. I will not have access to email.
If you are one of my expecting mommies and your little one arrives during my time away - also, please call the studio line and we’ll chat about our options. We will be able to still capture your little one within that two week time frame even if he/she arrives tomorrow.

A peek at a little one month old

This sweet little guy came to visit me recently. He was SO sweet but so much bigger than I’m used to working with for a newborn. We slightly missed that 2 week preferred cut off date but I think in the end we (mom, me and the baby) did great! I have LOTS of laundry to do ;) Here is a little peek at this little angel.

And of course the feet images. Gotta have the feet images.
We did manage to get the little guy to drift off for a bit and stay asleep. Which isn’t easy to do at this age. I think they are afraid they are going to miss something in this new world of theirs. It’s kind of funny.
And my FAVORITE shot from our session. I think. I’m not sure as it’s between this one and a few others. I feel a storyboard coming on!

For those of you that have had a session and ordering session with us before you know I always send out an online booklet prior to your sessions and ordering sessions to help you get ready and make the most of both. I have to share something…
I recently had these wonderful clients (HI GUYS!) and before their ordering session I sent my usual online booklet for them to read over to help them prepare. Within the booklet are ideas for where to hang your wall portraits, tips for finding the right size, etc. It’s a great tool! These parents took it to heart and went a little above. Not only did they read through the entire booklet but they took it very seriously! :) I mention in the booklet to look around your home for walls that you could hang your wall portraits, discuss about Home Galleries or groupings of portraits to decorate your home. When you find it, measure it so we can make sure we order the right size for the space. OK - so much to my surprise not only did these parents do this but they took PICTURES of these spaces and printed them out to bring with them! WOW! Let me tell you that really helped in creating their grouping of portraits to decorate their home! We knew where it was going, colors around it, space requirements, the works! THANKS GUYS!!!! When your portraits arrive and you have them on the wall will you take a snapshot and send it over? I’d love to share it with everyone!
I know a lot of parents are overwhelmed when they see their images for the first time and are a little ‘freaked out’ as I say about their ordering session. Relax - I promise we’ll be ok. :) This is why I put together the online booklet on preparing for your ordering session. Be sure you take a peek and read through as it will ease your mind, help your thought process and help us create wonderful focal areas in your home with your precious images of your little ones.

…… it’s the sound of peace and quiet in the house!!!
Yes, the boys are back in school. I have to admit I was SO ready for them to go back to school. They were so “bored” and ready to go back themselves. In fact they were ready to go 20 minutes early this morning. Which is a VERY rare occurrence I assure you.
So as I sit here and think (because I can now without interuption) I am so excited about some upcoming events! The website will be NEW and along with it comes a contest. Launch date? Still undetermined but will be soon after I return from Colorado! Yep! I’ll be going again this year to play in the snow, spend some time with a great friend and maybe learn a thing or two since she’s also a photographer! We’ll be heading out Jan 14th and will return Jan 23rd! I’m SO excited! And of course I will post pictures!
Happy New Year all! Happy quiet house too if your kids have returned to school…. those of you in Clay county have one more day to snuggle with your little ones before they head back!
