1 year olds and cake

January 31, 2008 | Filed Under Misc | Leave a Comment

They make a great combo… don’t you think? I love it when a 1 year old comes in and REALLY digs into the cake. Sometimes I laugh so hard I forget to take pictures! The things they do and the expressions they make are just priceless.

And this one is one of those super special ones too b/c I had the privilege of photographing this guy since he was a teeny tiny (ok.. he wasn’t so teeny tiny) but he was just a lil’ newborn.

Here he is now. He’s grown up so much. You may recognize his face. He was one of the Little Things Baby Plan members and how fun it was to watch him grow.

With his favorite book.

HERE FISHY FISHY… I SEE YOU!

And two shots of him REALLY diggin’ into his birthday cake. Eating it off of the arm is THEY BEST!

Images from Colorado

January 29, 2008 | Filed Under Misc | 2 Comments

Most of you know that I took some time away to visit a dear friend in Colorado. We had a great time playing and learning together. AND I got to play in snow! Born in Texas and pretty much raised in Florida I haven’t really been in snow. Once… my mom has pictures from when I was very little but I certainly don’t remember it. So I jumped at the chance to run around outside in the freezing weather and play in the snow. Attempted a snowman but it was the "wrong kind of snow" to make a snowman out of. I had no idea there were different kinds of snow. I guess that is news to a southern girl.

Some images from the trip:

A tree - yes just a tree - nothing really special about it but there is something about it that I just really liked.

04bw

And some of the landscape and the hills. They look like mountains to me… but I’m told those are just hills. LOVE this shot.

LOOK! ELK!  These boogers just walk around the city like they own the place.

07

Along with the Antelope

06

There were deer too.. and big ones… just walking along the road or wherever they felt like it. Kinda strange to be driving in your car through "downtown" and have to stop to let a deer cross the road. Wish I had a picture of that.

Icicles amaze me. Here are some hanging off the back of my friend’s house.

15

And then this HUGE one off the front corner.

16

Ok.. here is me.. I’m in the back.. along with my friend’s little girl. She’s teaching me to make snow angels.

19

And here is my snow angel… COOL!

20

OK.. for laughs… My friend also has 2 boys. They are older than my boys and they all decided to take me sledding. Here’s the result… as you can see I’m going down.

21

Then something happens and I fall over…

22

HA! Head first into the snow. Got my leg stuck too and had to dig myself out.

23

And some more pretties from around there. This one is the frozen water from the gutter system. Strange… I know.. but I thought it was pretty.

And me in the snow getting ready to go home.

And my bestest buddy and friend….

My favorite age to photograph

January 26, 2008 | Filed Under Misc | Leave a Comment

I’m often asked "What is your favorite age to photograph?"

My answer to everyone is always that I love to photograph anything… but if I have to choose my first pick would be newborns. To see these tiny, fresh and new little lives that have been brought into the world makes my heart smile. And I so enjoy chatting with new moms and dads about their futures too.  There is nothing better than seeing and holding the future in your arms.

That being said people also ask me "What is the hardest ages to photograph?"

My answer to this.. .same as my favorites… newborns. Ironic, isn’t it? Most people would think toddlers are the hardest but for the most part they are easy. Make a weird noise, talk about Elmo, give them a candy and we are good to go. But newborns have a mind of their own. They do what they want to do and there’s not much we can do about it.  But they truly are my favorite to photograph… and this sweet little one is no different. Although this was one of those sessions where baby had a mind of her own (gotta love that) I think we did just great in the end.

Welcome to the world little one!

However this is pretty much what she thought about being a model.

But then we caught this… guess she thought 07bw things were not so bad after all…

December Photo Contest

January 11, 2008 | Filed Under Misc | Leave a Comment

December always gets away from me. Finalizing orders and getting holiday cards to everyone. I don’t do many sessions in December as it’s a time to spend with family and friends (and catch up on business stuff).  We did have a few brand new little lives enter the world this past December and one really cute little boy that came into the studio before the deadline. Now we get to have a little fun and vote.

As always, please refrain from posting on places such as myspace as we want to keep the contest fair to all involved.

Voting will be short this time since we have few entries and because we want to know the lucky winner so we can get the best of 2007 contest going. I have fellow photogs that ask me all the time about it (since they are my voting team).

Best of luck!Dec

Our winner!! Image #03 Congratulations!

Testimonials….

January 10, 2008 | Filed Under Misc | Leave a Comment

Thanks to those of you that are sending in your experiences and feelings with me. I never thought in a million years that by asking for testimonials I would be given such an outpouring of love. You guys have made my heart grow by two sizes! Your thoughts, your feelings and your words have brought a great deal of joy (and reduced me to tears) in the past couple of days.

Just a couple to share:

My daughter’s eyes, that is the first thing I remember seeing in the delivery room.  Dark brown, almost black and already so full of life.  When I look at the newborn pictures Tina captured, I see those same eyes looking back at me.  The picture is priceless, in that each time I look at it  it, I see the promise of tomorrow and the joy I will experience looking at the world through my daughter’s eyes.  Tina’s patience and talent shines through in her work with the priceless sliver of time captured impeccably to share with family and friends.  Multiple friends framed the birth announcement stating it was so unique and special they had to keep it.  My family still marvels at the beauty of the photographs taken during her newborn session and they cannot wait to see the results of future sessions.

and another:

What can I say other than:  Tina is the best photographer that I have EVER used and I have used many. Tina is extremely patient, which is a must when dealing with children and something that most of those commercial studios have little of. She is also incredibly talented at capturing incredible expressions.  More times than not I walk away thinking ?my kids did not want to have their picture taken and I?m sure that Tina was not able to get any good pictures? only to view the slideshow later and stare in awe at the beautiful pictures that she has created.   Thank you Tina.

I will always accept your testimonials… if you have one you would like to share feel free to email me at any time.

Thanks again to those that have sent them in.

A little one grows up

January 9, 2008 | Filed Under Misc | Leave a Comment

Ok.. so it’s a first birthday grown up but still. I’ve watched this little guy grow up right before my eyes and he’s always such a joy. He reminds me of my own son - my youngest- in that he’s often adorning a very serious expression instead of big smiles. But you can see in his eyes that he’s a happy boy.

It’s always a bittersweet moment when one of my baby plan babies "graduates". I get so attached to each of the little ones whose parents allow me the opportunity to capture their sweet baby in portraits. To capture that very quickly changing first year and to celebrate that first year with them.

Enjoy your sneak peek mom and dad.. and thank you for letting me be a part of your little ones first year!

Those soulful eyes…

and a little grin…
