This sweetie was my “model” that I called for via Facebook (if you are not a “fan” or “like” the Nitz Photography page - what are you waiting for? It’s normally where I post quick updates about needing models, etc first). She really was not too sure of me I don’t think as she is of that age where “strangers” are noticed more (not that I’m strange or anything.. hehehe.. yeah I hear some of you laughing away). But we were able to capture some fun images of her as she and her mom let me play. Since I recently purchased a new camera I wanted to test it’s limits and play outdoors a little before doing a full session with new equipment. I have to say that this camera is AWESOME at high ISO. My “old” camera was such a booger with grain when it came to using higher ISO numbers - so I’m happy!
Thanks mom for meeting me at the park and brining your precious little one. Not quite her birthday yet but it will be soon so balloons were of course needed!! I’ll be in touch when I have the rest of the images ready to go for you!

and this cute little funny one…

AHHH… the ages and stages of that first year. We always like to capture milestones vs ages around here as those are the most memorable. Of course that first milestone we typically capture is soon after birth so we get them all tiny and squishy (always before 2 weeks of age). Then as every baby is different, each baby reaches the next milestones at slightly different ages. Some accomplish things a little earlier than others. The second milestone we recommend capturing is when baby can push himself up on those elbows and hold his head up high (and usually will flash a quick smile or two a well). This milestone occurs between 3 and 4 months of age. The next milestone is sitting up and then of course first birthdays but we will save those for a little later.
This “holding head up high” stage is honestly a difficult age to photograph but can be so much fun and very rewarding with a little hard work. Of course baby is smiling and cooing at mom, dad, siblings and those they see on a regular basis. Sometimes they flash smiles and giggles for people they don’t know well but you know what happens when you replace a person’s smiling face with a big black box (aka : camera)? Yep.. that smile goes away. Any parent of a baby this age sees it all the time: Baby is happy and all smiles. Mom runs to get the camera and tries to snap a picture. Baby sees mom’s smiling face and continues to smile. Bring black box to face to focus and good-bye smiley baby and eye contact. (I can see a lot of you shaking your head right now). Well here is a tip… come see me… hehe.. OK the real tip. You have to be quick. If you have a point and shoot camera you know they have a delay when focusing and usually baby loses his smile or eye contact before you get the shot. SO focus first. Keep camera focused (usually this means keeping the shutter button pushed half way down) and move your head to the side of the “black box” (be sure you don’t move the camera). Baby will see your face, smile and while he smiles you finish pushing that button down the rest of the way. Try it.. see how it works for you! Of course I usually prefer the more serious expressions - but I do love a good smile now and then.
Now on to this precious guy! 4 months old and WAY cute! It was a pleasure to meet you lil’ man (and mom too) and I cannot wait for you guys to see the rest of the images we captured!

ON another note - I will be taking the next week off to do some fun activities with my boys before school starts. If you have a “portrait emergency” please leave me a message via voice mail or shoot me an email and I’ll get back with you as soon as I can. I will not be available for orders, sessions or pickups during htis time but will return working week after next. Looking forward to a little rest and fun times with my boys!

It’s hard to believe that she’s already 4 months old but LOOK!!! Here is her newborn session if you want to take a peek at how much she had grown and changed. And big sister (whom is usually SO not into doing portraits) decided to jump in on one too (pool hair and all LOL). Sadly I don’t think I ever blogged big brother’s portraits!
Yeah.. you laugh but you know it’s cute!~

OH WAIT! Yes I did blog big brothers portraits… click here

You will probably recognice this sweetie! Everyone always comments about her pretty hair!! I have been photographing her since she was all of 5 weeks of age - every milestone and every birthday and holiday. It makes me smile to see her grow up right before my eyes. Kinda makes me sad too
I guess that you would call that bittersweet. I always feel so honored when parents choose to bring their kids in annually for me to photograph them as they grow. My heart melts.
We had a blast at our session as we always do and it was fun to carry on a conversation with a little person with such innocence. The hugs after every couple of shots were nice too. Her personality is just in full bloom… see…

hehehe… sorry mom but I had to do it! Just too funny. Here’s a more toned down shot.

ANd this is what I get when my new kitty cat decided to come up for a visit during our session.

I think this one is my favorite - and the very last shot we took!

I have fun at all of my sessions, expecially newborn sessions because they are high up there on my list of favorites. Those sweet, squishy, perfect little beings are just so unbelievably fun (even when I get “hit” by things that don’t sound so fun). This session was no exception but this little guy was super cooperative for us and let us do just about anything which of course will always make my day (or week). We were able to do some fun things with him and use some new hats I made (the blue one was purchased - I need more of those!!!) Without further ado meet this sweet, squishy and adorable little boy that made my week! I am LOVING the images we captured during his session and can only hope that mom and dad do too.

Amidst the many posts today related to the holidays I have to post a peek for mom (and family) of this lil’ cutie that came in last week. Isnt she precious? So funny because she looks just like her older siblings (and her mom) … at least I think so. Gotta do a little work on that sibling shot so no peek of that one yet but you get to see her sweet face.
