Catching up, updates and school!

It’s been a while since I posted on the blog - my bad ;) Guess you could say I’ve been a little busy with summer coming to an end and school getting started. Seems like August has flown by - I blinked and it’s almost over. We did take a short vacation to visit family up in Michigan. Had a great time visiting with those we haven’t seen in forever, enjoying the weather, visiting the zoo and picking raspberries!! MMMMM good!!! There is nothing better than eating a raspberry right after it’s been picked. The boys had a blast too - we even braved the bees!!!

AND of course school started. Believe it or not I didn’t take any pictures of their first days of school. I know.. bad mom! But it’s been raining and I always do it outdoors in the same spot. Honestly this morning it wasn’t actually raining - just wet - and I forgot! LOL! So I might have to “fake it” next week and get a snapshot of them as we head out the door. That and the fact that they are never ready to go on time. Adjusting to this new wake up time is really getting to all of us! But I have a middle school kid now and I feel old. That’s all I have to say about that.
Schedule is filling up fast for those of you that have not booked your holiday sessions yet. September has some slight wiggle room in there, October a little bit more wiggle room but those dates are filling in fast! Don’t forget that our holiday cut off is November 13th (20th for orders). If you have had a session earlier this year and would like to use those images for your holiday cards please let me know! I’ll be happy to share our holiday cards with you!

I was awaiting a client… and I finished setting everything up a little early. So I asked the boys to come up to play. I wanted M to attempt to get a pic of me. Well that led more to us playing around than anything and I pulled M into the pic and asked J to take a shot for me. AND… well I don’t think there are any words…

soooo… I took the boys out to a nearby field to play in the dandelions… because we all know you cannot walk past a field of danelions without stopping to pick one and blow it. Admit it.. you’ve done it too!!
Of course the camera came along as well.

OH the faces… don’t let him fool you… he was having a blast! 
Along with the “mom, I’m too old for this kind of thing”… yeah.. whatever kiddo.. you are having fun.
And I know because I turned to shoot some of the field and when I turned back I saw this…

Last weekend we headed outdoors to do a little yard work: trimming back the bushes, pulling weeds, planting new flowers. We were about finished and I realized we had forgotten to cut back the oak tree in the front yard. So I grabbed the clippers and headed over only to find a new mommy to be perched happily in her nest. So I threw the clippers down and ran for the camera of course!
Then we looked up this particular bird in our Florida bird book. It is apparently a mourning dove and these birds mate for life. Dad guards the nest during the day and mom at night (I think I have that right - might be the other way around so I guess this shot is of daddy to be). Interesting information. Just thought I would share.
Nest is too high for me to get a shot of the eggs and I don’t want to disturb too much (had a long lens on the camera to get this shot so I didn’t get too close). If I see babies soon I’ll be sure to grab a shot and share!
A matter of the heart

You are all probably wondering what happened since the blog has not been updated in a few weeks. Figured I best let you all know what was going on (although if you are a Facebook “friend” or “fan” you are probably already aware)
A few weeks ago I headed into the doctors office for a routine type of thing. While there they discovered that my blood pressure was rather high and that my pulse was running really fast. It didn’t come down before I left the appointment so they told me I needed to take it easy, keep an eye on it and head over to the cardiologist. The blood pressure came down (seems it was high b/c I was running a fever and had an infection) but the pulse was still staying high. After a couple weeks of taking it easy it has lowered a bit - which is good - but when they did an echo in the office they found something that was not quite right with my heart. Long story short I ended up in the hospital one morning (not emergency - it was outpatient) having a TEE so they could get a better look at the heart and all that was going on. I do have some “issue” with the heart with these small strands of tissue that are in there that normally shouldn’t be; however, they don’t really seem to be causing a problem so it’s going to be one of those wait and see type of deals. This doesn’t explain the shortness of breath that I was having nor the rapid heart rate from time to time so we are still doing some testing to get to the bottom of it all.
But the good news is that ther is nothing significantly wrong with my heart as far as they can tell ! YAY!!! So I’ve begun taking sessions again. Doc still says that most of my issues are probably from stress, anxiety and overworking myself so I’m taking it slow. So if you are in need of a session please be sure to plan accordingly as I’ll only be doing 2 sessions a week (with 2 ordering sessions too). 
Thanks to all of you that have sent cards, emails and well wishes. They were fabulous and really made me smile. I felt so blessed to know that you were all thinking of me in my time of need and were very understanding when I needed to move sessions around for appointments. LOVE YOU ALL!!!

I have to admit - I’m glad I don’t have four kids LOL!
Ok.. so to be honest this year was pretty easy as far as getting all 4 of them to cooperate together (and at the same time) so I was THRILLED to have captured this image. Once a year we get the families together to attempt a “cousins” shot for my mom’s holiday card (and portraits of the kids together)… and this year I think we have a keeper!!!
And it’s funny because M here on the left is the oldest but look how short he’s looking … all because he wanted to be sure his cousin could get her arm around his neck. SO SWEET!!!

So I’m sitting here tonight - and it’s really tomorrow already - and working on editing some client images like I always do. Photoshop is doing it’s thing in the background to size a bunch of images for the slideshow presentation and I start looking through some old files on the computer and doing a little “cleaning up” when I run across some images I did of the boys - gosh I didn’t look at the date but I want to say at least 4 months ago - and I never touched them. Bad me.
So once PhotoShop was done doing it’s thing I took a little 5 minute break from the cutie babies I was working on and edited this image of my oldest. He’s REALLY into soccer these days and getting quite good at it too. Learned how to do some weird trick with his feet to cause the ball to flip up behind him and over his head and then he kicks repeatedly in the air. Ok.. he thinks he’s greater than sliced bread right now but it’s good for his self esteem. LOL! He’s just so darn cute.
Had to share this image quickly with you all. I’m so proud of him and his accomplishments - not only in soccer but in school and in life.

With the start of the school year and some other issues going on at the home front I guess I’ve neglected the blog… BAD ME!!!! But that doesn’t mean I don’t have some things in the works over here ;) Been brainstorming some fun blog ideas!!! I’ll be sharing them soon so keep checking back - one of them to be “flashback fridays” !!!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!
