Tiny baby… BIG flower | {St. Augustine newborn portraits}

The gender of this sweetie was unknown until she was born. A sweet, tiny, new baby girl was welcomed last week and she is a peanut and as cute as can be. So when mom emailed me to let me know that it was a girl I knew I had to use my big flower! So here we are with a tiny lil’ one and my big ‘ol flower. Never realized it was so big until this session to be honest. Maybe it’s just that she was so tiny. Either way it’s SUPER cute!!!
She fought some sleep when she first arrived but after a nice snack (ok.. a while meal) she drifted off and gave us some play time while she slept. Got some fun images!! And of course the polka dot planter that seems to be a big hit lately!
Her room is done in black and whites and mom brought in this fun little bucke/basket that matches her room. So we played a bit with that too!

It was so fun to see this lil’ guy back in the studio. Last I saw him he was a tiny newborn peanut and he’s grown SO much! He has the most beautiful eyes and eyelashes and is such a happy baby! We had a great time playing together and he was falling asleep before mom got to the door to head home. I guess we wore him out!

OH this lil’ sweet pea came to visit and when I was talking to mom on the phone and she mentioned that she was just under 6 pounds at birth I go so very excited. Because usually the smaller they are the better they sleep because they need that sleep to put on some weight. And they are usually pretty darn squishy too. Well let me tell you what… this lil’ one definitely had a mind of her own about all of that sleeping and being squishy stuff! :) But she was just too cute for words. After a while she eventually gave it up and drifted off for a little bit but was still pretty wiggly and didn’t like to be messed with. I told mom and dad to watch out because she is a fighter for sure! Reminds me of my own youngest…
We had a great time and mom and dad were wonderful in letting me play once we got the “usual” shots too! So I got to use a few new props including this pot and hat!
And we got her to take a short cat nap on the chair with the “big flower” hat! LOVE!!!!
She did a little curling up for us…
And of course one of mom and dad with the new love of their lives.
And I have to share this one of dad with his sweet pea… b/c there are no words for it.. just melts my heart!

This lil’ man decided to make his grand entrance into the world a tad on the early side… more like about 8 weeks early if my memory serves me right. Mom called when he was born and we chatted a bit about doing a newborn session for him when he was able to come home from the hospital. He spend some time in the NICU.. came home and then unfortunately had some illnesses that prevented him from coming in. But AT LAST we were able to get together to do his “newborn” portrait session at 2.5 months of age. He’s still a lil’ peanut for that age but he’s nice and plump :) Gotta love that!!! And I was really worried about him curling and staying asleep to capture these special moments for mom and dad - but we had a little chat and he drifted off to sleep for a bit and even did a bit of curling up for me!
Congratulations mom and dad on your little man! He’s adorable and so good (aside from the poopie in the lap thing)! We’ll see you soon! Enjoy your little peek!

Welcome this lil’ rocker to the world. I was kidding with his parents that I was going to have to title the blog peek something about “rockin’” and I did! Just couldn’t resist given that dad brought his guitar and case to our session to use as a “prop”. I just love it when parents bring items in from home that have special meaning to them! It’s great to be able to find a way to incorporate that into the portraits and makes them just that much more precious.
We had a great time at this session!!! My friend and colleague from Colorado was here visiting for the week and we were able to play with our “usual” poses but were also able to try out a new prop or two (see the lil’ wooden “bench” below). And this lil’ man was OUT for quite some time (after a little help and a good mess on me).
So without more yappin’ from me… on with the peek!!!
One in dad’s guitar case along with the guitar. I think next session I’ll have to ask him to play a few notes for me 
Another special item brought from home… dad’s karate belt (or maybe it was grandfathers? I forget but either way it was wonderful!)
NEW BENCH! (itty bitty bench that is)
NEW HAT!!! (made this to go along with a new pot prop but lil’ man here woke before we could use it.. but I got a shot with the hat!)

It’s a rare treat that I get to photograph an extended family that includes grandparents… but that is just what we did last weekend. But guess what?? I’m going to save that special shot just for their eyes only!! hehehe…. But I do want to share a few others from our session. Family images from the two families and of course a shot or two of each of the cutie kiddos!

Well just look at him now!!!
And would you look at that giggle face? I swear he did this the WHOLE session. Just the happiest lil’ guy ever! All I had to do was shake my hair around and he belly laughed about it… it never got old with him. There were times he had ME laughing so hard I could hardly get a shot b/c the camera was bouncing up and down! And look at all that hair of his!! WOW!~
And the highlight of our whole session… CAKE TIME!!! Going to show a lot of cake images here.. why? well… you’ll see…
First he was just happy he got to sit here and play again. And was only slightly curious about the cake in front of him. Was more content watching me make a fool out of myself shaking my hair around.
But then mom gave him a taste…. and he wasnt quite sure how to tackle eating it soooo…
HA! We were all cracking up so hard!
He was quite conent with the way he decided to eat it at first… and was just licking his lips too.
And by the time he was done (ok.. so we took it away after this so the poor kid didnt end up with a belly ache) he looked like this!!
I still laugh as I post this… just too funny! LOVE it when they really get into their cakes!

This sweetie came to visit me!! Oh how cute is he??!!! We had a great time playing together and his little smile is just the cutest - but so are his serious faces too. Just couldnt get enough of him!
